Winter vacations abroad - where to go for a short vacation?

Although Poland has much to offer winter sports enthusiasts, there are several other worthy destinations on the map of Europe.

1. Slovakia

In our southern neighbor, such places as:

  • Tatranská Lomnica and Chopok - numerous trails for experienced skiers, but also for beginners and families with children,
  • Donovaly - a unique resort with a large ski park for children. Cross-country skiing and tobogganing trails also available.

2. Austria

In Austria, it's worth taking the direction of the Tyrol (e.g. St. Anton, Ischgl, Sölden) or the Zillertal (e.g. Mayrhofen, Hintertux). Every winter sports maniac will find plenty of attractions for themselves here.

3. Slovenia

Slovenia is a small and still underestimated country, which is in no way inferior to Austria or Switzerland in terms of scenery, and on top of that we can count on slightly lower prices there. Worth a visit are Kranjska Gora and Vogel (in Triglav National Park, on Lake Bohinj), among others.

By far the most interesting winter destination in Slovenia, however, is Planica, well known to ski jumping enthusiasts. It is there that Letalnica is located, which is the largest mammoth hill in the world, where competitions are held as part of the Cup competitions. And it is here that Polish jumpers have had unforgettable successes in both team and individual competitions.

Spending winter holidays in Planica, Slovenia, in the Julian Alps, it is worth going to the Planica Nordic Center, for example, where you can visit the legendary hill - see the monumental constructions up close and feel the adrenaline rush of Kamil Stoch or Dawid Kubacki on the starting beam. What else is there to do in Planica? There is something for lovers of cross-country skiing, mountain hiking, sledding, zip-lining, but also relaxation in the thermal baths. Lake Jasna offers an extraordinary winter alpine landscape - a sight you won't forget for the rest of your life.
